One of the very first, if not the
first, progressive band from
Bangladesh, Artcell started its
journey in 1999. The members
were all school friends. Ershad
used to be the guitarist of a
band named Tantrik back in
1999. Current vocalist, Lincoln,
joined Tantrik just before the
group disbanded. They were
looking for a bassist and a
drummer, when through
friends, they met Cezanne and
Shaju.
They released their 1st track
Shopner Koras (Projonmo),
followed it by Odekha Shorgo
(Charpotro), Dukkho Bilash &
Opshori (Onushilon). THe fans
quickly took notice and Artcell
gradullay gained the reputation
of a big band. Fans flocked to
see them in concerts and a
tremendous buzz went around
for their debut album.
In 2002, Artcell debuted
Bangladesh's 1st Progressive
Rock album titled "Onno
Shomoy". The album set the
pavestone for the uprising of
New Age Rock in Bangladesh. A
massive hit in every regard, the
album introduced metal fans to
a new style of music. Artcell
became of of the most popular
bands in Bangladesh with a huge
fan following.
The Band remained active in the
next years, performing in
concerts and releasing more
tracks in mixed albums. By now,
Artcell was truely an icon in the
music industry and fans
continued to show their
support.
Artcell went to work on their
highly anticipated 2nd album,
Oniket prantor, in 2005 and
released it in April 2006. The
album was SOLD OUT
throughout Dhaka within hours
of the release and throughout
the country in matter of days.
The album is one of the top
sellers of this year.
In May 2006, Artcell peformed
their 1st solo concert in front of
a Sold out audience.
